Actress Stephanie Chandler's Bio
Stephanie R. Chandler, MFA, has performed in films and commercials, as well as having written and performed one-woman plays. These shows include Wade In the Water, a social justice piece based on interviews she had conducted in 2006 while volunteering after Hurricane Katrina; and Stilettos, the side-splitting tale of several women whose lives are transformed when they visit a neighborhood shoe store.
A dedicated student, Stephanie received her Bachelors of Arts in Rhetoric and Communication Studies with a concentration in Theatre from the University of Richmond. She continued her theatrical career at the Yale University Summer Film and Television program, and studied classical theatre in London. Her passion for the law, social justice, and untold stories took her to Chicago, where she studied at Northwestern Law School and Medill School of Journalism. She was a 2009 intern at the Cannes Film Festival where she was an actress in a student-directed award-winning film, and worked with notable industry professionals. She received her Masters in Fine Arts in Acting from Regent University.
Stephanie's theatrical credits include her thesis role Rosalind in As You Like It, Ruby in Thulani Davis' Everybody's Ruby, Woman 1 in Samm-Art Williams' Home, and several characters in Anna Deveare Smith's Twilight Los Angeles, 1992. She is passionate about youth advocacy and mentorship, and is writing her first book, which is scheduled for completion in early fall 2010.
